A FOOTLOOSE GYPSY TRIP TO SAMTHAR VILLAGE & DARJEELING

OVERVIEW:  This trip will let you explore lovely villages in the lower Himalayas. You will be living in a lovely guest house (cottage options) which overlooks the Kanchendzonga range; and spending your time in nature walks and cycling trails through villages and forests. The walks also provide you a lot of bird watching opportunities. A great way to spend time in the outdoors with your family! You will end your trip in the hill-station of Darjeeling.

DURATION: 7 days

GETTING THERE AND AWAY: The trip starts and ends at Bagdogra, connected by air to all major cities of India.

DAY-BY-DAY PLAN

Day 1: Bagdogra- Kalimpong

Pick up at Bagdogra & transfer to Kalimpong driving through beautiful tea estates. 3.30 hrs. You will be received at our guest house in Kalimpong. Evening at leisure to explore the surroundings. Dinner and overnight stay at beautiful guest house done up in traditional style.

Day 2:  Kalimpong – Samthar

Early morning local sightseeing in Kalimpong. After breakfast, drive to Samthar village via a scenic route. Along the way, option of walking on a nature trail. Picnic lunch. Arrive at the Samthar guest house late afternoon and enjoy the tranquil environs.

Overnight at Farmhouse. Lunch, evening tea and dinner included.

Day 3: Samthar

After breakfast do a 2 hrs nature walk that introduces you to the flora and fauna of the area. After lunch do a nature walk that takes you through three villages – with a mixture of Nepali and Lepcha communities. Tea at Lepcha Charles house. Walk back in time for lunch.

Day 4: Samthar

Get up early for a breathtaking sunrise view of Mount Khangchendzonga group of peaks. It is an unforgettable sight as the great mountain, changes various colors and hues. After breakfast take your picnic lunch and cycle up a lovely waterfall. This is a moderately strenuous ride. At the waterfall enjoy your picnic, and be back in time for evening tea.

Day 5: Samthar – Darjeeling

After breakfast drive to Darjeeling, stopping for lunch along the way. Late afternoon check in at Dikiling hotel New Wing. Afternoon and Evening free to explore bazaar on your own. Overnight at Dikeling hotel (New Wing)

Lunch, evening tea and dinner- a la carte at Extra Cost.

Day 6: Darjeeling

Free to explore on your own

Overnight at Dikeling hotel. New Wing

Lunch, evening tea and dinner- a la carte at Extra Cost.

Day 7: Darjeeling- Bagdogra

After breakfast (not included in the price) Transfer to Bagdogra in 03 hrs.
