North east India is always a pandoras box for people from other part of our country, more so we South Indians. Right from the weather, to the culture, to the food, to the language everything seems alien and a plan to visit such a place is akin to orchestration of cacophony. No problem for me, because I knew the Pied Piper who could turn this cacophony to an opera. I had the best of locations to stay, some had cozy beds with warm quilts, while others provided the best ambiance. If some offered the best sunset view from the room, others offered free WiFi. The Pied Piper knew his art. He knew South Indians can trade their lives for a cup of filter kaapi and dosa, hence on one such occasion the gastronomical genius played his master stroke by recommending a hotel that served Idli and Dosa right in the middle of Meghalaya!

The invisible sentinel that he was, I would always get a call everyday of the trip to ensure that everything was alright. His timely suggestions for pre booking of the elephant safari at Kaziranga, or his relentless request for me to trek to double decker root bridge, or be it the suggestion for the shop to buy the best chai ki patthi in Guwahati, Pied piper has been my Man Friday for this trip.

Thank you Pied Piper for orchestrating this opera for us, playing us the best of the tunes which me and my family will keep humming time and again throughout our lives.

If not globetrotting, you can (probably) find Pied Piper at:

#B 902, Amar Ambience, Ghorpadi, Pune 411001.

Also, if you book a trip from him, and too lazy to pick the phone during the trip, you will always find couple(or even more) of missed calls from this number: +91-9922939584

2018 ended well, thanks to Amish. I had promised a vacation to my wife in 2018 and conveniently forgot about it. In the second week of Dec, i got my long overdue leave approved and decided to plan a vacation. No one in the right mind will plan a long vacation with just 1 week left and that too, as a surprise to your wife. Only one name came to mind and i decided to give Amish a call.
I was surprised when he picked my call, because i have been taking a raincheck on the Ladakh trip for four years and i thought he would have given up on me. And that’s what you need to know about Amish, He never gives up when it comes to planning a trip. He responded to my message with an immediate call. I enquired if something could be done with 1 weeks’ time. 30 minutes later i had an itinerary in my hand for Assam and Meghalaya. He knew what type of traveler’s we were and had a customized itinerary. He knew we were on the road that day and booked us our flight tickets. And then he walked us through the itinerary day by day, giving us insights on the places, the great places to eat and the things i need to plan for. All in one day.
And that's why i am thankful i chose Amish and Footloose Gypsy for my first vacation to the North East. I am now certain no one knows these places better than Amish. Sometimes we wonder how he finds these great places to eat. The most important thing with Amish is, he not a travel agent. He is a friend who is with you every step of the vacation, calling to find out every day how things were going and addressing issues on the fly. Every trip will have some unforeseen challenges, but not once did i have to worry about anything. He was always a call away. Some highlights of the trip were the beautiful sanctuary song resort, the Kaziranga safari, the trek to living root bridge and the stay at Mawlynnong village (I think one should call it the shire of India).
A big thank you Amish. Looking forward to your 2019 trips.

Amish has organised my holidays earlier too. I am therefore accustomed to his efficiency, courtesy and general warmth. Just before I left on my recent holiday to Sikkim, his foremost suggestion was to step out of my comfort zone. I can't say I abided by that entirely and yet, it was the vacation of my dreams. Much of that was courtesy Footloose. Right from picking perfect properties to stay in, tips on restaurants to try out, advice on sights and sounds that are off the beaten track, to experiences that take one's breath away and finally, Amish's own constant attention.
While the stunning landscapes of Sikkim and its equally beautiful people didn't fail to capture one's heart, the experience was undoubtedly enhanced by Amish's innovative additions to the itinerary. E.g. The time spent at the Mayal Lyang homestay in Dzongu, which turned out to be a significant highlight of the sojourn. Finally, Amish's goodnatured willingness to go beyond the call of duty and deal with unexpected events is exemplary--be it finding last-minute flight tickets or providing suggestions for souvenirs to bring back.
Take it from me--nobody knows the mountains better than Amish Shah.

Trip to Bhutan
Three things one looks for when planning a vacation, namely beautiful locations, comfortable Itinerary and hassle free journey. Our group represented three generations aptly called Kal , Aaj & Kal consisting of UG uncle, Bina aunty , my better half Madhu and our 4 years old charming daughter Khyati. We had been thinking of visiting Bhutan for quite some time, but things starting taking shape with a causal talk with Amish of Footloose Gypsy, with whom I had a very pleasant experience of Leh trip in the year 2015.
I explained our requirements to Amish and he promptly gave an itinerary for 9N/10days, covering all important locations, major towns, adventure and ionic landmarks. Our trip started from Bagdogra airport on 21st September,2018 for Phuentsholing for 10 days of sheer enjoyment, passing through beautiful landscape, numerous waterfalls, and neat and clean surrounding. Our guide Mr Yonten and Driver Tenzin Khenrab, were most hospitable and went out of their way to make our visit memorable. They had a very clear understanding of their role to make our trip, as comfortable as possible. They possessed the required skill necessary for their role. The hotels and home stay at every place were as promised and met our expections.
We visited Thimphu, Punakha,Phobjikha, and Paro. Bhutan has plenty of beautiful Dzongs and Monasteies. The visit to Taktshang ( Tiger’s Nest Monastery), Punakha Dzong & Buddha Dordenna Statue were the high points as far as to see things were concerned. The narration would not be complete without mention of the beautiful place Phobjikha and 12 kms river rafting in Mo Chu river.
A big thanks to Amish of Footloose Gipsy, who regularly called to check our welfare, and guided us to maximize our enjoyment by giving valuable guidance regarding good places to eat and shopping if any.
Hope to catch up soon for another similar trip to some other part of the world.
