Panchachuli Glacier Trek

Located exquisitely in the lap of the snow capped peaks of Panchachuli, the Darma valley in Pithoragarh district is endowed with abundant scenic grandeur. The starting point to Panchachuli glacier is Tavaghat at the confluence of Dhauli Ganga and Kali Nadi, about 18 kms away from Dharchula. The actual trek begins from Sobla which is 35 kms from Dharchula and is accessible by road.

To reach Panchchuli, one has to pass through Dar, Urthing, Nagling and Saun villages, in the Darma valley.

From Dar to Panchachuli Glacier is a 31 kilometers trek. The route to the glacier abounds in exotic scenery, snowcapped mountains, gushing streams, alpine meadows and a rich variety of flora and fauna. On the final lap at village Duktu, one gets the spectacular view of Panchachuli that derives its name from the five peaks.

The heights of these peaks are 6355 meters, 6904 meters, 6321 meters, 6334 meters and 6437 meters respectively. The 3 kms long and 1 km wide glacier projects out from this range of hills. Trek of about 4 kms from village Saun leads to the base of this glacier.
